Introduction
The RUGGEDCOM RX1500 is a cost-efficient, rugged Layer 3 switch and router. The RX1500’s modular and
field replaceable platform can be equipped with WAN, serial, and Ethernet options, making it ideally suited for
electric power utilities, the industrial plant floor, and traffic control systems.
The RX1500 is designed to provide a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and
heavy electrical surges typical of the harsh environments found in many industrial applications. An operating
temperature range of -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F) allows the RX1500 to be placed in almost any location.
The following sections provide more information about the RX1500:
• Section 1.1, “Feature Highlights”
• Section 1.2, “Description”
