Startdrive commissioning tool
The SINAMICS Startdrive is a tool for configuring, commissioning, and diagnosing the
SINAMICS family of drives and is integrated into the TIA Portal. It has been optimized with
regard to user friendliness and consistent use of the TIA Portal benefits of a common
working environment for PLC, HMI, and drives.
The SINAMICS Startdrive commissioning tool is available free on the Internet at Startdrive
(https://w3.siemens.com/mcms/mc-solutions/en/engineering-
software/startdrive/Pages/startdrive.aspx).

Configuring procedure
Motion control
Drives are optimized for motion control applications. They execute linear or rotary
movements within a defined movement cycle. All movements should be optimized in terms
of time.
As a result, drives must meet the following requirements:
● High dynamic response, i.e. short rise times
● Capable of overload, i.e. a high reserve for accelerating
● Wide control range, i.e. high resolution for precise positioning
