Recording
Changing the recording setting
You can select the recording format (bit-
rate, image size, frame rate, scanning
system). The default setting is as follows:
NTSC model: 1080/60i
PAL model: 1080/50i
1 Press the MENU button.
2 Select (REC/OUT SET) t
[REC SET] t [REC FORMAT] t
a desired format with the V/v/B/b/
SET button.

Either 60, 50, 30, 25, or 24
• Scanning system
i: interlace
p: progressive
If you select [1080/60i ] (NTSC model)
or [1080/50i ] (PAL model), for
example, movies are recorded with
following format.
• 1080: Effective scanning lines
• 60, 50: Frame rate
• i: Scanning system
• FX: Recording mode
Frame rate displayed (NTSC model)
The frame rate displayed on the LCD
screen differs from the actual frame rate.

• Movies recorded with the recording mode set to
PS or FX on [REC FORMAT] can be saved on
an external media device only (p. 79).
z Tips
• The recording format of 720/60i HQ (NTSC
model) or 720/50i HQ (PAL model) is
automatically selected for the DV recording.
You can record/play back in DV mode of
standard image quality
