Main Features of the Receiver
Compatible with the latest object-based audio formats
Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and the object-based audio formats (Dolby Atmos and
DTS:X) are supported (only when devices are connected via HDMI cables). You can
experience surround sound for 360 degrees.
Compatible with high quality 4K video formats*
The receiver supports HDCP 2.2, Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma, letting you
enjoy high quality video images (page 24).
* You need to change the setting of “SIG. FMT.” depending on the input video signal.
Equipped with an Auto Calibration function (Advanced D.C.A.C.) that makes
your viewing and listening environment close to ideal
Advanced D.C.A.C. measures and calibrates the distance, level, and frequency
characteristics of the speakers using the supplied monaural calibration microphone to fit
your viewing and listening environment (page 32).
The Automatic Phase Matching (A.P.M.) function calibrates the phase characteristics of the
speakers so that you can experience well-matched surround sound.
Reproduces a virtual surround sound even in an environment where the
back speaker cannot be installed (Front Surround)
Allows you to enjoy surround sound equivalent to that of a 5.1-channel speaker system with
only two front speakers (page 23).
Compatible with BLUETOOTH® wireless technology
Connect a WALKMAN®, smartphone, or tablet to the receiver via the BLUETOOTH function
to play music content on those devices wirelessly (page 37).
You can turn on this receiver from a paired BLUETOOTH device even when the receiver is
in standby mode. For details on operation, visit the Help Guide.
Sound fields selectable by preference
You can select from a variety of sound fields according to speaker connections or input
sources (2ch Stereo, Direct, Auto Format Decoding, etc.) (page 39).
Equipped with an HDMI jack compatible with the eARC (Enhanced Audio
Return Channel) and ARC (Audio Return Channel)
TV sound can be output from the receiver using only one HDMI cable (page 25, 26, 27).
eARC is a new feature of HDMI Specification 2.1.
When you connect an eARC-compatible TV to the receiver, in addition to the audio formats
already supported by conventional ARC, you can also enjoy object-based audio formats
such as Dolby Atmos - Dolby TrueHD and DTS:X as well as Multi Channel Linear PCM, which
cannot be transmitted by ARC.
Supports bi-amplifier connection of front speakers
You can enhance the sound quality of the front speakers by connecting different amplifiers
to the tweeter and woofer using a bi-amplifier connection (page 22).
