Hookups and Settings
Step 3: Connecting the Video Cords/HDMI Cord
Select one of the following patterns A through D, according to the input jack on your TV monitor,
projector, or AV amplifier (receiver). This will enable you to view pictures.
A Connecting to a video input jack
You will enjoy standard quality images.
B Connecting to an S VIDEO input jack
You will enjoy high quality images.
C Connecting to component video input jacks (Y, PB/CB, PR/CR)
You will enjoy accurate colour reproduction and high quality images.
If your TV accepts 720p/1080i format signals, you must use this connection.
D Connecting to an HDMI input jack*
Use a certified HDMI cord (not supplied) to enjoy high quality digital picture through the HDMI OUT
jack.

The HIGH DEFINITION OUT indicator on the front panel lights up when outputting 720p/1080i video signals from
the HDMI OUT jack or the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks.
The recorder’s default video output setting is “1080i.” If the connected TV does not display pictures when using
pattern C or D, change “Video Format” to “576p” or “576i” (page 43).
