1.Thoroughlywashthemachinewithagarden
hose—withoutanozzle—sothatexcessive
waterpressuredoesnotcausecontamination
anddamagetothesealsandbearings.
Makesurethatthecoolingnsandthearea
aroundthecooling-airintakearekeptfreeof
debris.
Important:Cleaningtheoilcoolerwith
waterpromotesprematurecorrosionand
damagetocomponents,andcompacts
debris;refertoCleaningtheOilCooler(page
37).
2.Inspectthemachineforpossiblehydraulic-uid
leaks,damage,orweartohydraulicand
mechanicalcomponents.

leavingthemachine.
3.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page29).
4.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenas
necessary.
5.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints;
refertoGreasingtheMachine(page23).
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Changetheengineoilandlter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page24).
2.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor2
minutes.
3.Shutofftheengine;removethekey;andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeleavingthe
machine.
4.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleaner
assembly;refertoServicingtheAirCleaner
(page25).
5.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherproofmaskingtape.
6.Checktheoil-llercapandthefuel-tankcapto
ensurethattheyaresecurelyinplace.
PreparingtheBattery
1.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
2.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswitha
wirebrushandabaking-sodasolution.
3.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(T oroPart505-47)
topreventcorrosion.
4.Slowlychargethebatteryfor24hoursevery60
daystopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
