Properthrottleoperationdependsuponproperadjustmentof
thethrottlecontrol.Beforeadjustingthecarburetor,ensure
thatthethrottlecontrolisoperatingproperly.
1.Loosentheclampscrewsecuringthethrottle-cable
housingtotheengine(Figure66).

2.MovethethrottlecontrolforwardtotheFastposition.
3.Pullupthecablehousingofthethrottlecable(Figure
66)untilthethrottlecablehasalmostnoslack,and
tightentheclampscrew .
4.Tightentheclampscrewandchecktheenginespeed:
•Highidle:2750to2950rpm
•Lowidle:1450to1650rpm

1.Loosentheclampscrewsecuringthechoke-cable
housingtotheengine(Figure66).
2.PushthechokecontroldowntotheOpenposition;
refertoChokeControl(page18).
3.Ensurethatthechokevalveonthecarburetorisfully
opened.
4.Pullupthecablehousingofthechokecable(Figure66)
untilthechokecablehasalmostnoslack,andtighten
theclampscrew .
5.Ensurethatthechokevalvemovestothefullyclosed
positionwhenyoupullthechokecontroloutwardand
tothefullyopenedpositionwhenyoupushthechoke
controldownward.

Theenginemustberunningduringadjustmentof
theenginegovernorspeedcontrol.Contactwith
movingpartsorhotsurfacesmaycausepersonal
injury.
•Ensurethatthecontrolhandlesareinthe
neutral-lockedposition,andsettheparking
brakebeforeperformingthisprocedure.
•Keephands,feet,clothing,andotherbodyparts
awayfromanyrotatingparts,themufer,and
otherhotsurfaces.
Adjustthelow-idlespeedasfollows:
1.Starttheengineandletitrunathalfthrottlefor
approximately5minutestowarmup.
2.MovethethrottlecontroltotheSlowsetting.
3.Pushthespringendofthegovernorarmdownward
(Figure67).
