CheckingtheHydraulic
System
Wheneveryourepairorreplaceahydrauliccomponent,
youshouldreplacethehydraulic-uidltersandcheckthe
hydraulicsystemtoensurethatitworksproperly.
Important:Makesurethatthehydraulicreservoirsand
themanifoldlterarelledwithuidatalltimeswhen
checkingthehydraulicsystem.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandturntheengine
off.
2.Raiseall3wheelsofthemachineupofftheoor,and
supportthemachinewithjackstandsjusthighenough
toallowthedrivewheelstoturnfreely;refertoLifting
theMachine(page35).
WARNING
Mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmayfailto
supportthemachineandcauseseriousinjury.
Usejackstandswhensupportingthemachine.
3.Starttheengineandsetthethrottletoallowtheengine
torunatlowidle.
4.Movethecontrolhandlestothefull-forwardposition,
andwatchforthedrivewheelstoturnsmoothly.
5.Movethecontrolhandlestothefull-reverseposition,
andwatchforthedrivewheelstoturnsmoothly.
6.Presstheattachmentswitchuntilthelift-cylinderrod
movesinandoutseveraltimes.
Ifthecylinderroddoesnotmoveafter10to15
seconds,orifthepumpmakesabnormalsounds,stop
theengineimmediatelyanddeterminethecauseor
problem.
Inspectforthefollowingconditions,andmake
thenecessaryrepairsorseeyourAuthorizedToro

•Theuidlevelisinadequate.
•Ahydrauliclterisloose.
•Thechargepumpisworn.
•Thechargerelieflterisworn.
•Thereisanissuewiththeswitchorthewiring.
•Thesolenoidvalveisplugged.

3.Placeadrainpanunderthelefthydrostatic
transmission.
4.Removethedrainplugonthepumpsideandthedrain
plugonthegearside(Figure70),andallowtheoilto
draincompletely.
