Pulling up the lower thread

Raise the presser
foot lever. Loosely
hold the upper
thread with your
left hand, and then
turn the handwheel
towards yourself
one full turn.
Pull out the lower thread to the front.
Align both threads, pass them
through the groove (arrow) and
under the presser foot, and then
pull out about 15 cm of thread to
the rear.
Lightly pull the upper thread with
your left hand to pull up the lower
thread.
Do not pull the
thread taut.
