Mounting the Controller
This section provides recommendations and requirements for mounting the MP501.
Location Recommendations
Trane recommends locating the MP501:
In an indoor environment for protection from the elements.
Near the controlled equipment to reduce wiring costs.
Where it is easily accessib
le for service personnel.
Where public access is restricted to minimize the possibility of tampering or vandalism.
Operating Environment Requirements
Operate a MP501 in an indoor environment that meets the following requirements:
Temperature: 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C)
Relative humidity: 10–90%, non-condensing
Mounting Recommendations
Important:
Leave the cover on when mounting the MP501 to avoid the possibility of damaging
the circuit board during installation.
Trane recommends the following mounting guidelines:
Mount the controller in any direction, other than with the f
ront of the cover f
acing downward.
Mount using the two 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) radius mounting holes provided (refer to Figure 4, p. 12).
Mounting fasteners are no
t included.
Attach the controller securely so it can
withstand vibr
ations of associated HVAC equipment.
If the controller is mounted in a small enclosed compartment, complete all wirin
g connections
before securing the controller in the compartment.
