CHECKING AND CLEANING
THE TERMINALS
Carefully read p. 73 (BATTERY).
Remove the left side cover, see pag. 58
(REMOVING THE SIDE COVERS).
Make sure that the cable terminals (1)
and the battery terminals (2) are:
in good conditions (and not corroded
or covered with deposits);
covered with special grease or
Vaseline.
If necessary:
Remove the battery, see beside
(REMOVING THE BATTERY).
Eliminate any sign of corrosion with a
wire brush.
Reconnect first the positive (+) and then
the negative cable ().
Cover the terminals with special grease
or Vaseline.
Reinstall the battery, see p. 57
(INSTALLING THE BATTERY).
REMOVING THE BATTERY
Carefully read p. 73 (BATTERY).
Make sure that the ignition switch is in
position
.
Remove the left side cover, see pag. 58
(REMOVING THE SIDE COVERS).
Unscrew and remove the screw (3) from
the negative terminal ().
Move the negative cable () (4) sidewards.
Unscrew and remove the screw (5).
Remove the cover (6).
Partially remove the battery from its
compartment.
Unscrew and remove the screw (7) from
the positive terminal (+).
Move the positive cable (+) (8) sidewards.
Withdraw the breather pipe(9).
WARNING
Once it has been removed, the battery
must be stored in a safe place and kept
away from children.
Remove the battery from its compartment
and put it on a flat surface, in a cool and
dry place.
