Problem Solution
System does not respond a. Check that the system is properly Connected
to the power source
b. Check if the power supply is still working.
If the power supply is not working
( most basic approach is to feel the fan from
the air vent ),
do a thorough check to determine the
cause. Do not attempt to replace the power
supply until the cause is rectified.
No Display but Power supply is working a. Check that the DRAM contact is good.
To confirm, remove the DRAM and Reinsert.
Upon boot up, system stopped after ram a. The K-S switch (keyboard–scanner) Switch
check might be set to “K” but there is no external
keyboard connected.
b. Ram is not compatible with the motherboard.
c. Hard disk (if connected) not detected by BIOS.
Go to BIOS setup and check is HDD is set to
AUTO mode.
If yes but HDD is still not detected, try to check
HDD connection,including the HDD mode
(ie. Master / Slave)
Upon power up, “paper Out” LED blinks a. Paper is jammed on the printer. Open The
printer compartment and rectify The problem.
System experienced intermittent hang a. Check to ensure that the following are
Correct :
1. Jumper setting
2. CPU correctly detected by BIOS
3. Power Supply fan is still working.
4. CPU fan is still working.
“Paper out” LED lights up every time a a. Incorrect baud rate setting.
command is sent to the printer Check that the system is communicating
with the printer at the correct baud rate.
KEYBOARD mapping is lost after a. The system will not hold the new keyboard
Power off mapping.Each time after Power lost,
a “REMAP” need to be executed.
(can be included onto the autoexec.bat file)
Interface card does not work a. Check that the connection is proper
(ie. ISA/PCI card on the riser card) (ie. From interface card to riser card and from
riser card to Motherboard)
b. Check that there are no interrupt conflicts.
Bare in mind that any interface card plugged
onto the riser card takes up interrupt which
has to be released.
Funny display on LCD/CRT a. This will usually happen when the VGA chip
is too hot. Check to ensure There are no
excessive heat built up in the system.
