5. DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM
5-1. Launching the Diagnostic Program
How to launch the diagnostic program
(1) Set a paper roll.
(2) While pressing
f
, turn the Mode Switch to [PGM].
(3) Release
f
.
(4) When the following screen appears, press

to start the
diagnostic program.
After the diagnostic program is launched, the device status appears on the main display and the
diagnostic program versions are automatically printed.
How to exit the Diagnostic Program
(1) Turn the Mode Switch to [OFF].
(2) Remove the memory protection batteries.
(3) Unplug the power cord and leave it for more than 10 sec., then set the memory protection batteries
and plug the power cord into AC outlet.
[NOTE] If the power cord is plugged in within 10 sec. and the power is turned on, the diagnostic
program is automatically launched.
5-2. Notes for the Diagnostic Program
To perform tests, input commands by pressing keys.
The input command is displayed in the main display.
When a wrong command is input, press
y
to clear it.
Command
For the number of test to perform, you may select “once” or “in nite loop”.
If “0” is entered as the number of times to perform the test, the test will be performed only once.
If any value between “1” and “9” is entered, the test is repeated in nitely. To forcibly terminate the
in nite loop, press
y
or turn the Mode Switch to [OFF].
When the Mode Switch is [OFF], all displays are turned off and no diagnostic commands are
accepted.
To forcibly terminate a test, press
y
or turn the Mode Switch to [OFF].
If a test is terminated, the device prints out the following:
ESC
If a command of 10 digits or more is entered, the values entered initially are canceled.

If the above command is entered, the
rst two digits “12” will be canceled and will not be displayed.
The values “3456789012” will be displayed in the main display.
When a command starts with “0”, “0” will not be printed.
When printed characters are hidden behind the printer cover, press
f
to advance the printer paper.
