DANGER

isanexplosivegasandmustneverexceedalevelof2%oftheair.
•Battery–Poison!Containsacid!Causessevereburns.Avoidcontactwithskin,eyes,orclothing.
Antidotes:
–External:Flushwithwater.Callaphysicianimmediately.
–Internal:Drinklargequantitiesofmilkorwaterfollowedwithmilkofmagnesiaorvegetable
oil.Callaphysicianimmediately.
–Eyes:Flushwithwaterfor15minutes.Callaphysicianimmediately.
WARNING
•Wearsafetyglassesorapprovedeyeprotectionwhenservicingthevehicleorbatterycharger.Weara
fullfaceshieldandrubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.
CAUTION
•Onallvehicles,turnoffallaccessoriesbeforechargingbatteries.
NOTE:Recycleordisposeofdiscardedbatteriesinaccordancewithlocal,state,andfederalregulations.
ClubCarelectricvehiclesusedeep-cyclebatteries.Automotivebatteriesshouldneverbeusedinelectricvehicles.
Newbatterieswillnotdelivertheirfullcapabilitiesuntiltheyhavebeendischargedandrecharged20to50times.T o
obtainthemaximumservicelifefromnewbatteries,restrictelectricvehicleswithnewbatteriesto40to50amphours
or36holesofgolfor(40minutesofprivateuse)betweenchargesinthersttwomonthsofoperation.Batteriesshould
befullychargedbeforerstuseofnewvehicle,beforerstuseofavehicleafterstorage,andbeforereleasing
vehicleforuseeachday.
WATERQUALITY
Waterpurityisthemostimportantfactorintheperformanceandlifespanofthevehiclebatteries.ClubCaris,
therefore,placingincreasedimportanceonbatterywaterquality.
Outlinedbelowarefourbatterywateringprocedures,groupedintotwocategories:PreferredandAlternatemethods.
ClubCarrecommendstheuseofadeionizerordistilledwater.Alternatemethodsofreverseosmosisortapwater
areallowablebutshouldbeavoidedsincewaterqualitycanchangefromdaytodaydependingonadditives,water
mainleaks,etc.
PreferredMethods
•DistilledWater:Distilledwateristhemostcommontypeofwaterusedinbatteries.Distilledwateriscreatedby
boilingwater,collectingthesteam,andallowingthesteamtocondensebackintowater.Thedistillingprocess
resultsinwaterthatisfreeofmineralsthatcanleadtothedegradationofbatteryperformanceandlife.
