Appendix B: HR Input
B.1 HR Return from ECG
When the ergometer is connected to an ECG it can be helpful to have the heart rate
being recorded at the ECG also transmitted to the ergometer. This allows the heart
rate to be continuously monitored as an alarm parameter. A continuous ECG signal
input is absolutely necessary for pulse-steady-state programs. If the ECG unit used
has a QRS trigger output it can be connected to the ergometer. There are two possible
points of connection (see Appendix A): Either via the opto input (J3, Pin 5) or via the
ECG trigger (J3, Pin 4).
B.2 Pulse Monitor
Ergoline offers a Polar type pulse monitor for heart rate input without ECG. This unit
features a wireless connection to the ergometer. The receiver part of the pulse monitor
is connected to the ergometer’s opto input connector. The QRS impulses are then
radio transmitted from the chest-strap of the ergometer.
