tion
distortion,
gain
slope
and
frequency.
All
use
the
same
measurement
configuration.

Loss
This
measurement
is
used
to
determine
the
point-to-point
loss
(or
gain)
of
a
channel
at
1004
Hz.
1004
Hz
is
transmitted
instead
of
1000
Hz
to
avoid
mea¬
surement
errors
caused
by
signals
which
are
submultiples
of
the
8
kHz
PCM
sample
rate.

The
transmitter
sends
1004
Hz
at
the
nominal
data
level
(usually
-13
dBmO).

The
receiver
measures
the
level
and
frequency
of
the
received
signal.
The
loss
is
the
difference
between
the
transmitted
and
received
levels.

OTE
If
the
channel
is
already
terminated,
the
receiver
can
measure
the
level
via
a
high
impedance
input
(bridging
mode).
