External Device Problems
Problem Possible Cause Solution
New device is
not recognized
as part of the
computer
system.
The device cable or
power cord is loose.
Be sure that all cables are securely
connected to the device and the
Docking Station.
Be sure that all power cords are
securely connected to the device
and an electrical outlet.
The device was
connected while the
system was turned on.
Turn off the system, turn on the
device (if applicable), then restart
the tablet PC.
The cables are
connected to the wrong
connectors.
To identify Docking Station
connectors, see Chapter 1,
“Identifying the Components. To
identify which connectors to use,
refer to the documentation
included with the device.
Device drivers may
need to be installed on
the tablet PC.
Install drivers according to the
device manufacturer’s instructions.
