Ensure that the SCSI cable is seated correctly, and that there are no bent or damaged pins on
the SCSI cable.
Ensure that a terminating plug is attached to the device end of the SCSI cable.
Continue with the next step.
3. Is there a Fiber Channel interface between the IOP/IOA and the device?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Perform the following:
Verify that any hub or gateway devices are powered on.
Verify that the Fiber Channel cable is correctly connected to the ports.
If a cleaning kit is available clean the Fiber Channel cable connectors.
Continue with the next step.
4.
Perform the Verification Procedures in the iSeries Service Functions
book to see if the problem
was corrected.
This
ends the procedure.

The failing item is the clock card on the system unit, or the SPCN cable (JTAG) interface (for Models 830,
840, 870, 890, SB2, and SB3).
1. Choose from the following options:
v If you are on a Model 270, 800, or 810: Continue with the next step.
v If you are on a Model 820: Go to step 4 (See page 321).
v If you are on a Model 825: Go to step 5 (See page 321).
v If you are on a Model 830, 840, SB2, or SB3: Go to step 6 (See page 321).
v If you are on a Model 870 or 890: Go to step 7 (See page 321).

Is this system a Model 270 system unit with processor feature 22A2, 22A4, 22A5, 2301, 2302, 23E7,
23F0, 23F1, 2422, or 2452, or a Model 800 or 810 system unit with processor feature except 7428,
7429, or 7430?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: See Locations Model 270 and use Table 1. to find the appropriate table by processor
feature code, or Locations Models 800 and 810. Replace the following FRUs in order one at a
time until the problem is resolved. Be sure to IPL in SLOW OVERRIDE mode after each
replacement.
a. Power regulator in location R01
b. System unit backplane in location MB1
This
ends the procedure.

This is a Model 270 system unit with processor feature 22A7, 22A8, 22AA, 22AB, 23F4, 23F5, 2423,
2424, or 2454, or a Model 810 system unit with processor feature 7428, 7429, or 7430. See Locations
Model 270 and use Table 1. to find the appropriate table by processor feature code, or Locations
Models 800 and 810.
Replace the following FRUs in order one at a time until the problem is resolved. Be sure to IPL in
SLOW OVERRIDE mode after each replacement.
