e. Go to HSM in the Primary partition, and select Logical hardware resources —> System bus
resources —> Display detail for each system bus on the Logical Hardware Resources on System
Bus display until you find the bus with the same bus number you recorded for the IOP.
f. For the system bus that you found, select Associated packaging resource(s).
g. Record the frame ID in the Frame ID column.
4.
Record the frame type/feature by using the frame ID and system configuration listing OR locate the
frame with that ID and record the frame type/feature.
5. Choose one of the following options:
v For Models 800, 810, 825, 870, and 890: Continue with the next step.
v For Models 270, 820, 830, 840, SB2, and SB3: Is the bus number that you recorded for the IOP
between 4 and 23 (in decimal)?
Yes: Perform Bus PIP CNSL01 in the Migrated Expansion Tower Problem Analysis, Repair and
Parts manual on the V5R1 Supplemental Manuals web site
.
This
ends the procedure.
No: Continue with the next step.
6.
Determine and record the card location of the IOP by going to the “Bus, high-speed link (HSL) PIPs”
on page 62 and locating the card position table for the frame type/feature you recorded in the previous
step. Then, continue with the next step.
7. Exchange the IOP in that card position by performing the following steps:
a. Refer to Locations and addresses, and select the frame type/feature that you recorded.
b. Go to the FRU locations and failing items table for the frame type/feature that you recorded.
c. Locate the card position in the FRU locations and failing items table and use the remove and
replace procedure identified for that card location.
d. Power on the secondary partition.
This
ends the procedure.
8.
The problem is in the Primary partition of a system with one or more partitions. Choose from the
following options:
v For Models 270 and 820: The console IOP is embedded in the system unit backplane. Exchange
the system unit backplane using symbolic FRU “SYSBKPL” on page 464. Then, power on the
system.
This
ends the procedure.
v For Models 800 and 810: The console IOP is embedded in the system unit backplane. Exchange
the system unit backplane using symbolic FRU “SYSBKPL” on page 464. Then, power on the
system.
This
ends the procedure.
v For Model 825: The console IOP is in slot C09. Exchange the Network Interface Controller (NIC)
Card. See Locations - Model 825 for location information, diagrams, and links to remove and
replace procedures.
This
ends the procedure.
v For Models 830, 840, SB2, and SB3: The console IOP is in the base I/O tower for the system unit.
Exchange the IOP in card position C01.
For Model 830 systems, the IOP is in card location C01 of the FC 9074 base I/O tower in frame
1 of the system unit. To see where the IOP is located in the system unit, and determine the CCIN
and remove and replace procedure for the IOP, locate card position C01 in the FRU locations
and failing components table in Locations Models 830, SB2 system unit with FC 9074 Base
I/O Tower. Then, power on the system.
This ends the procedure.
For Model 840 systems, the IOP is in card location C01 of the FC 9079 base I/O tower in frame
1 of the system unit towers. To see where the IOP is located in the base I/O tower, and to
determine the CCIN and remove and replace procedure for the IOP, locate card position C01 in
