– For FC 5078, FC 0578, FC 5088, or FC 0588, perform “Power PIP8” on page 168 to isolate the
failing item. The failing item may be one of the following parts (see Type, model, and part
number list for part number).
- Any part on the expansion bus.
- Power supply P01
- Power supply P02
This ends the procedure.

Is the SRC 4414?
v No: This ends the procedure.
v Yes: Perform “Power PIP6” on page 160 to isolate failing item. Then, return here and continue with
the next step.
7.
Is the SRC 4414 still present?
v Yes: Replace the battery power unit charger (see Type, model, and part number list for part
number).
This ends the procedure.
v No: Continue with the next step.
8.
Power on the system. Does the expansion tower that was failing, power on?
v No: Go to “Starting point for all problems” on page 2.
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
9.
Remove the ac line cord from the outlet. Does a battery power unit, charger fault occur?
v Yes: Replace the battery power unit charger (see Type, model, and part number list for part
number).
This ends the procedure.
v No: This ends the procedure.
Instructions for Models 830, 840, SB2, and SB3
1. Is the SRC 1xxx 1810, 1820, 1830, or 1840?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Perform ″Power PIP6″ in Migrated Expansion Tower Problem Analysis, Repair and Parts
manual on the V5R1 Supplemental Manuals web site
to isolate the failing item. The failing item
may be one of the following parts (see Locations and addresses ):
– Any part on the system bus
– Power supply P01, P02, or P03
2. Is the SRC 1xxx 1B01, 1B02, 1B03, 1B04,1B05, 1B06 or 1B07 or 1B09?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Use the following, except for FC 5078, FC 0578, FC 5088, FC 0588, FC 5095, or FC 0595.
