The
Digital
Signal
Processing
(DSP)
modes
let
you
create
a
variety
of
different
sonic
environments from almost any type of program source.
To obtain the best possible surround sound, be sure to complete "Surround set up" before using the surround modes. —_ié
Sound modes

Dolby Digital (AC-3)
The Dolby Digital (AC-3) surround format lets you enjoy up
to 5.1 channels of digital surround sound from Dolby digital
(AC-3) program sources (such as Laserdisc software marked
LAI posy sumo |). Compared with previous Dolby surround,
Dolby Digital (AC-3) provides even better sound quality,
greater spatial accuracy, and improved dynamic range.
Some Dolby Digital (AC-3) programs carry information that
lets you compress the dynamic range of the sound track,
without degrading the sound quality, for softer sound
effects when you listen late at night (“Midnight mode").

Dolby Pro Logic
Dolby Pro Logic is a specially encoded 2 channel surround
format designed to provide theater-like surround sound
from Dolby Pro Logic program sources (such as video and
Laserdisc software marked[J{][oosy surrouno}). This receiver
is equipped with a Dolby Pro Logic surround decoder to let
you enjoy the wide variety of currently available Dolby Pro
Logic home video software.

‘Dolb y 3 Stereo
Dolby 3 Stereo creates a panoramic frontal sound field
while maintaining the dialog in an on-screen position. This
mode is designed for use with Dolby program sources, but
can also improve sound field unity for non-Dolby program
sources. Dialog positioning and sound image definition,
_ however, may not be as accurate when used with non-
: Dolby program sources.
