19.2 Changing the engine oil and oil filter, cleaning the oil screens
Warning
Danger of scalding Engine and gear oil get very hot when the motorcycle is ridden.
– Wear suitable protective clothing and safety gloves.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately with lukewarm water.
Warning
Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
– Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with the applicable regula-
tions.
Preparatory work
– Remove the engine guard. ( p. 167)

Main work
– Stand the motorcycle on its side stand on a horizontal surface.
– Place a suitable container under the engine.

Remove oil drain plugs

with the magnets, O-rings, and oil screens.
