5.3 Manual Grades
Manual Grading
step-by-step
Application shown using the Rod Eye 140, Classic Receiver.
Step Description
1. Set up the Rugby on a tripod.
2. Set up the tripod at the base of a slope with the x-axis pointing in the direction
of the slope.
3. Attach the receiver to a rod.
4. Turn on the Rugby and the receiver.
5. At the base of the slope, adjust the height of the receiver on the rod until the
on-grade (centre-line) position is indicated on the receiver by:
•the centre bar
the green flashing LED
a solid audio tone
6. Move the rod and the attached receiver to the top of the slope.
7. Change the X-axis to Manual Mode by pressing the Automatic/Manual Mode
button once on the Rugby.
8. Use the Up and Down Arrow buttons on the Rugby to move the laser beam up
and down until the on-grade (centre-line) position is indicated on the receiver
by:
•the centre bar
the green flashing LED
a solid audio tone
