Occupant safety
The restraint systems are

앫 Emergency tensioning device
앫 Airbags
앫 Child seats
앫 Child seat recognition
앫 Lower anchors and tethers for children
(LATCH)
As independent systems, their protective
effects work in conjunction with each oth-
er.
The 1 indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster (
컄 page 25) comes on:
앫 for about four seconds when you turn
the SmartKey in the starter switch to
position 1.
앫 for about four seconds when you start
the engine by turning the SmartKey.
The 1 indicator lamp goes out shortly
after you start the engine. This shows that
the restraint systems are operational.

The 1 indicator lamp remains lit if
the SmartKey is turned to position 2
and left there. The indicator lamp will
go out when you start the engine.
