Chapter 1 Planning
Before starting the setup, please read this chapter fully and watch the setup
DVD. This will help you determine the best location for the Base Station

, for the perimeter wire layout, or for the perimeter switch.
1.1 Determine Base Station location
Robomow’s Base Station is placed along the Perimeter Wire. This is where
the wire “loop” starts and ends. The Base Station has two main functions:
It generates a small signal along the perimeter wire (very low voltage),
which serves as an “invisible wall” setting the lawn boundaries for
Robomow.
It charges Robomow’s batteries.
After completing the one-time set-up of the Perimeter Wire and the Base Station,
a weekly program is set. That’s when Robomow does your mowing for the entire
season!
Robomow leaves the Base Station on the day and time scheduled in the automatic
weekly program. It mows the lawn and it returns to the Base Station for recharging.
First, you decide where the Base Station will be placed…
Q Inside the lawn area, along its outer edge.
Or:
Q Outside the lawn area
1.1.1 Consider the following in order to
choose the best location:
P If the lawn has more than one zone, set the Base
Station within the largest plot or zone.
P Make the Base Station invisible to the street.
P Prefer a shady spot.
This will extend battery lifetime
P Place the Base Station on a relatively level ground.
P Do NOT place it on a slope.
P Place the Base Station at least 1 meter from corners.
P Place the Base Station away from sprinkler heads.
Water or rain does not harm Robomow. However, we
recommend a distance from sprinklers for maximum protection.
1.1.2 If Base Station is to be located outside the lawn area
External setup of the Base Station allows the Base Station to be located
outside the lawn area, close to its edge.
Consider the following in order to choose the best external
location:
P Choose a place close to the lawn edge.
P The passing between the lawn and the Base Station
should be smooth, with no height differences.
This will enable Robomow to follow the wire smoothly to its Base
Station.
P The surface of the external area should be hard (e.g. a
sidewalk, firm ground). It should not be sandy or stony.
This will prevent Robomow from slipping or getting stuck.
