How to work with TIP* and OTS XTrain* reports
The meaning of the report fields
The fields at the beginning of all reports mean:
Report: type of the report
Report date: selected period of time of the report
Unit type: type of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit
Serial number: serial number of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit
The other fields, which are variable among the reports mean:
Date: date of an event
Name: name of the operator
Login ID: user ID of the operator
Company/Authority: company or authority the operator works for
Location: installation site (airport or other building) of the HI-SCAN X-ray unit

(Probability of Detection). Possible values are between 0 and 1. The higher the
value the higher the probability.
Pfa: probability that the operator marks bags/basic images without any threat projec-
tion occurred (Probability of False Alarms). Possible values are between 0 and 1.
The higher the value, the higher the probability is.
d': derived operator performance factor. Possible values are between −4,7 and +4.7.
The higher the value, the higher the probability is that the operator correctly de-
tects projected threat images and -objects and does not actuate
H, if no projec-
tions were made.
Response time(sec): average times needed by the operator to actuate
H:
Hit: in case of threat images or -objects projected
False: in case of X-ray images without any threat projections
Totals: sum of values listed in a column
Averages: average of values listed in a column
#Shifts: number of shifts a operator has worked on the X-ray unit

I
The designation "False Alarm" is perhaps misleading since also real dan-
gerous objects are marked with
H. For the evaluation of statistics it makes
sense to keep a list referring to the user which records the number of de-
tected real dangerous objects; this number is subtracted from the number
of false alarms. 1765
