STARTING THE ENGINE
Before attempting to start the engine,
make sure to follow these steps.
1. Set the parking brake lock.
2. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
3. Turn the key to the “ON” position.
4. Set the engine stop switch to the
“RUN” position.
This vehicle has two systems for
engine starting. You can use the elec-
tric starter or the recoil starter. To use
the electric starter, simply push the
electric starter button. When you use
the recoil starter, follow the procedure
below.
NOTE:
The engine can be started in any
gear if you squeeze the rear brake
lever until the interlock switch
clicks.
Pull the starter rope slowly until
you feel the starter engage. With
the starter engaged, pull the rope
forcefully to start the engine.
If the idle speed is so low that the
engine rattles just after starting it,
open the throttle briefly to raise the
idle speed.
5. Close the throttle completely and
push the electric starter button or
use the recoil starter as described
above to start the engine.
NOTE: Open the throttle 1/8 and push
the electric starter button or pull the
recoil starter when the engine is hard
to start.
CAUTION
Engaging the starter motor for
more than five seconds at a time
can damage the ATV.
The starter motor and wiring har-
ness may overheat.
If the engine does not start after
several tries, check the fuel supply
and ignition system.
WARNING
Running your ATV indoors where
there is little or no ventilation can
be hazardous.
When breathed in, exhaust gases
from the ATV can cause death or
severe injury.
Always run your ATV outdoors
where there is fresh air.
