B. Engine/Generator Coupling/Uncoupling
The engine/generator assembly must be removed from the unit before the assembly can be split.
Follow the procedures outlined in the Engine/Generator Removal of this section.
Engine and Generator Uncoupling
1. Remove the roof panel over the engine and generator compartment.
2. Remove the generator drive end screen cover to access the generator drive plate and
adapter ring bolts
3. Unbolt the drive discs from the engine flywheel. Unbolt the generator from the frame cross
member.
4. Attach a lifting hoist to the generator lifting point on the top of the engine. Lift the generator
end up slightly and place a wood block under the engine flywheel housing to support the
engine for when the generator is removed. Allow some weight to still be carried by the
lifting hoist.
5. Unbolt the generator adapter ring from the engine flywheel housing and slide the generator
rearward until the drive plates are clear of the engine. Lift the generator up and out of the
top of the unit.
Engine and Generator Coupling
Refer to Coupling Procedure TLD#101-03-0031 for coupling a generator to a Cummins engine (90
kVA).
