Match the numbered cap
with
the
numbered
con-
necting rod.
(b)
lnstall the connecting
rod
cap
with the front mark
facing
forward.

HINT:
o
The
connecting
rod cap
nuts
are tighten
in
two
progres-
sive steps.
o
lf
any of the cap bolts break or
deform, replace them.
(a)
Apply
a
light
coat of the engine oil under
the nuts.
(b)
First,
alternately torque
the cap
nuts in
several
passes.

any one of the
nuts
does
not meet the
torque specifica-
tion,
replace
the bolt.
(c)
Mark
the
front
side of
the top of cap
nut with
paint.
(d)
Torque the cap nuts by an additional 9Oo.
(e)
Check that the
paint
mark is now facing sideward.
(f)
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
(g)
Check the
rod
thrust clearance.
