Repair - lower gear housing, sailboat drive

Installation, lower gear
housing–adapter plate.
Preferably use the shims which were installed previ-
ously, if only new bearings have been installed. Shim
thickness can also be measured as in the points be-
low.
66. Check that there is no end float in the vertical
shaft. Then install spacer ring (1).
67. Use a depth micrometer 9985472 to measure the
distance (A) from the division plane down to the spac-
er ring (1).

64. Install the adapter section on the upper housing.
Torque the socket cap screws alternately.
Tightening torque: 40 Nm (29.50 lbf ft).
Only tighten bracket (1) by hand.
65. Put a new O-ring on the adapter section neck.
Check that the slipping clutch is in place in the upper
gear housing and then fit the housings together.
NOTE! Put washers under the screw heads.
Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22.13 lbf ft).
Secure the four screws with locking wire. Tighten the
four nuts.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (16.96 lbf ft).
Tighten the two screws on the front bracket.
Tightening torque: 40 Nm (29.50 lbf ft).
