Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
EMERGENCY MANUAL SHIFT SYSTEM
The emergency manual shift system is provided against failure in shifting with the remote control
lever.
1 Emergency lever (red)
2 Shift rack
3 Emergency manual shift lever
Lifting up the emergency lever 1 moves the shaft of the rack 2 to disengage the rack from the
motor side pinion and engage the rack with the pinion on the emergency manual shift lever 3.
Then, the outboard can be shifted by using the emergency manual shift lever 3.
Turning the emergency lever 1 clockwise/counterclockwise by approximately 5/12 shifts the out-
board motor forward/revers.
NOTE:
The emergency manual shift lever 3 must be moved in the direction opposite to the remote con-
trol lever.
