The wastegate actuator Is a spring
lOa
ded
diaphragm acted on by manifold pressure
and controlled
by
the wastegate control
(WGC)
solenoid.
The
wastegate control solenoid, duty cycle
controlled
by the PCM, is allowed to bleed
pressure via a hose connected to the air
intake system
for
precise control.
Spring pressure closes the wastegate.
Note:
A tampered
or
disabled wastegate
will result In decreased performance and
potential turbocharger damage.

To
test the wastegate actuator, apply
regulated air pressure
to
the actuator.
starting
at
zero
11nd
slowly increasing
pressure while observing actuator
rod
movement.
The actuator
should
start to move at 5 psi.
The actuator should hold 5 psi lor
30seconds.

CAC
intake
air
hOse
has
offset
diameter tnlet and outlet, this is due to the
diHerence
in
the
CAC
housing a
nd
intake
covers.
Note: H
oses
are
of
special material and
should
not
be
substituted
during
service.
