FUEL CHARGING SYSTEM

Fue4 is supplied to the luel finer by an eleclric
pump. The fuel finer is pressure regulated .
Excess fuel is returned from the fuel finer
through lhe pressure regulator va l ve, to the fuel
lank. Filtered fuel is delivered lo the cylinder
heads where U enters !hough check valves. No
fuel re turn from the cylinder heads exists.

• To check fuel pressure in the right head
Install a fuel pressure gauge
In the plugged
passage at
the end of the head opposUe
the fuel supply line.
• Fuel pressure should
not drop below
30 pal. It
is not uncommon to see fuel
pressures
as high as 80 psi.
• On Econoline, the lett head should
be
checked tlrst. The alternator and bracket
must be removed to gain access to I he fuel
pressure fitting on the right head.

• To check pressure in the left head install a
fuel pressure gauge
in the rear of the head
near
the turbocharger.
• Fuel
pressure should not drop below 30 psi.
Note: When routing lines, be sure to route
them away from hot or moving parts.
