Driver Assistance Technologies
Hill Start Assist
• Helpskeepthevehiclefromrollingbackward,making
it easier to pull away when on a slope or hill with a
grade of 5 degrees or more
– System also functions on a downhill slope
• Activatingthesystemissimple
– Press the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a
complete standstill
– Keep the brake pedal pressed
– If the sensors detect that the vehicle is on a slope,
hill start assist is automatically activated
• Systemutilizesanaccelerometertomeasuretheslope
and longitudinal incline and automatically operates
when a slope of 5 degrees or more is calculated
• Whenhillstartassistisactivated,thebrakepressure
is held in the braking system and the vehicle remains
stationary on the slope for up to three seconds after
the driver releases the brake pedal
• Thebrakesareautomaticallyreleasedoncethe
engine has developed sufficient power to prevent the
vehicle from rolling down the slope

Active Park Assist
• Worksinconjunctionwithforwardsensorsand
Reverse Sensing System to help drivers avoid any
obstacle directly in front of or behind the vehicle
• Toactivatethesystem,driverspresstheactivepark
assist button located on the center stack in front of
the gear shifter
• Onceactivated,amessageappearsintheinstrument
cluster LCD screen indicating the system has begun
searching for available parking spaces
– Sensors located in the front fascia “look” for
adequately sized parking spaces on either side
of the road
– The system default is to check the passenger side;
moving the turn signal to the left will change the
scandirectiontothedriver’sside
– System scans the spaces, measuring the size of
the openings
– When an available, adequately sized parking space
is identified, active park assist alerts the driver
to stop by sending a message to the instrument
cluster LCD screen as well as by sounding an
audible chime inside the cabin
• Oncethedriverhasstoppedthevehicle,thedriver
shifts the vehicle into Reverse and lets go of the
steering wheel
• Activeparkassistworksinconjunctionwiththe
electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) to take
control of the steering input while the driver continues
to control the gas, brake and transmission (forward
andReverse),slowlyeasingintotheparkingspace—
helping take the tension out of parallel parking
• Ifadrivermanuallymovesthesteeringwheel,the
active park assist maneuver will automatically cancel
Integrated Blind Spot Exterior Mirrors

“blind zone”
• Includeasecondaryconvexmirrorintegratedintothe
