Forward Sensing and Reverse Sensing Systems
What are they?
• They’rebumper-mountedsensorsthatutilize
radar signals to detect objects in front of or
behind a vehicle
• Theyhelpaudiblyalertdriverstocertainobjects
close to the front or rear of the vehicle as drivers
back their vehicles up or slowly navigate into a
tight parking spot
How They Work
• Bothsystemsrelyonbumper-mountedsensors
that send out signals to help detect objects in the
vehicle’sintendedpath
• Whensignalscontactanobject,theybounceback
to these sensors and, within milliseconds, the
system calculates the distance to the object
• Thetonewillsoundwhenanobjectis6feetaway
or closer, and increase in frequency as the vehicle
approaches the object
• Thetonewillsoundcontinuouslywhenthe
distance between the object and the bumper
is 10 inches
• Whenthevehicleisequippedwithbothsystems,
the Forward Sensing System will remain active
even when the vehicle is in Reverse – a helpful
feature since the front bumper swings when
drivers parallel park

• Includesautomaticandmanualzoomfeatures
– Pressing the up or down arrow provides access to
3 different levels of zoom
– Image can be zoomed in on an object while keeping
the rear bumper in the frame of reference
– Automatic zoom can also be selected with the up
or down arrow icon
– Zoom feature must be re-enabled each time
vehicle is placed in Reverse
Forward Sensing System
• Alertsthedriverwithanaudibletonetocertainobjects
