5.3 Exterior mirrors
The base vehicle must be equipped with two
mirrors to operate the trailer. The exterior mirrors
must ensure that the lanes surrounding the trailer
are sufciently visible.
For safety reasons, the exterior mir
rors on the base vehicle must always
be properly adjusted before each
drive.
Rules for the purchase of additional
mirrors:
• If at all possible, bring the trailer carriage to
the place of purchase.
• Have the mirrors trial-tted on the spot.
• Check that the mirrors are suitable to the
dimensions of the vehicle and the sitting posi
tion of the driver.
• Additional mirrors should be EC-type tested
and thereby correspond to EC regulations.
5.4 Roof rail
Rules for loading the roof rail:
• Only store light baggage on the roof.
• Lash the roof load sufciently and secure it
against slippage or falling.
•
Do not load the roof excessively! The heavier
the roof load, the worse the overall handling of
the vehicle.
The maximum total load for the roof
rail is 50 kg!
Note the maximum permissible axle
burdens.
Calculate the measurements of the
roof load in relation to the vehicle
height.
Post a note of the total vehicle height
in a highly visible place near the dri
ver. Then you no longer have to cal
culate when approaching bridges and
thoroughfares.
Do not cover the waste gas ue.
