8) Make sure the sealing washers are in good condition;
replace if necessary.
9) Install the plug fingertight

seat the washer, then tighten
with a plug wrench
to
compress the sealing washer.
If
reinstalling the used spark plug, tighten 1/8

1/4 turn
after the spark plug seats.
If installing a new spark plug, tighten
1/2
turn after the
spark plug seats.
The spark plugs must be securely tightened. An
improperly tightened spark plug can become very hot
and may damage the engine.
Overtightening the spark plug can damage the threads
in the cylinder head.
