CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT /TRANSMISSION/BALANCER
Before 8ssembly, Place the right crankcase onto the left crankcase.
lubricate the
transmissIOn
bearings with clean
transmission oil.

Apply locking agent to the crankcase tigh tening bolt
threads .
Install the crankcase tig htening bolt and washer.
Install the crankcase bo lt s and washers.
Tighten the crankcase bolts in a c ri sscross pattern in
two or three progressive steps.
Apply transmission oil to the transmission oil drain
bolt t hr eads and seating surface.
Insta ll a new was her and tighten the drain bolt to
the specified torque .
TORQUE: 16 N·m 11 .6 kgf ·m, 12 Ibf.ft)
Carefu lly tri m the protruding gasket material from
the cylinder base gasket surface.
NO TE:
• Do not let gasket material fall into the crankcase.
• Do not damage the base gasket su rf ace.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly .
Install the cam chain to the cranksha ft .
Clean and apply locking agent to the cam chain
tensione r bolt threads
Install the ca m chain tensioner, collar, washer and
bolt.
Tighten
the cam chain tensioner bolt to the speci-
fied torque .
TORQUE: 12 N'm 11 .2 kgf ·m, 9 Ibf.ft)
Coat
a new O-ring and the inside of the countersh aft
collar wit h grease.
Install the D·ring and collar on to the coun tershaft .
Install the removed parts in the reverse or der of
r emoval.
• Refer to service information (page 13-3) f or
i nstallation of the removed parts after assem-
bling the crankcase.
