7. Starter Relay Switch Continuity In spection
Connect
the staner relay switch con nector .
ELECTRIC STARTER
Pull the clutch lever and engine staner switch is pushed, check for continuity at the starter relay
switch.
Is there continuity?
YES - Loose or poor contact of the starter relay switc h connector .
NO - Faulty starter relay switch.
Start er motor turn s engine slowly
• l ow battery voltage
• Poorly connected battery cable
• Poorly connected starter motor cable
• Faulty starter motor
• Poorly connected ground cable terminal
Starter motor turn s, but engine does not turn
• S ta rter motor is r unning backwards
- Case assembled improperly
• Faulty starte r clutch
• Damaged st arter gear tr ain
Starter relay switch clicks, but engine doe s not turn over
• Crankshaft does not turn due to engine problems
