Insert a feeler gauge (r ight exhaust valve clearance
+
0.35 mm (O.014 in)) between the adjuster and right
side rocker arm.
Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster until there
is a slight drag on the feeler gauge.
Hold the adjuster and tighten the lock nut.
TORQUE: 10 N-m (1.0 kgf -m. 7 tbf.ft)
Recheck the decompressor clearance.
Install the fo ll owing:
- Crankshaft hole cap (page 9-39)
- Cylinder head
cover (page 9-42)
DECOMPRESSOR SYSTEM (After '07)
Remove the cylinder head cover (page 9-7).
Make sure of the plunge r operation using the fol -
lowing procedure:
,. Move the decompressor weight outwa rd with
yo ur finge r.
- The plunger operation is normal if it is
retracted.
2. Release the decomp r essor weight.
- The decompressor weight sho uld move inward
automatically.
- The plunger ope r ation is normal if it is pro-
truded.
ENGINE OIL/OIL FILTER

temperature

riding area IS within
the mdlcared range.
OIL LEVEL INSPECTION
Start the engine and let it idle for 3 minutes .
Stop the engine and wait 3 m inutes .
Support the motorcycle u pright on a level surface.
Remove
the oil fille r cap/ dipstick and wipe the oil
with a clean cloth.
Insert the dipstick wit hout screwing it in, remove it
and check the oil level.
If
the oil level is below or near the lowe r level line
on the dipstick, add the recommended engine oil to
the upper level line through the oil filler hole.
Add the recommended engine oil to the uppe r level
line.
RE COMME NDED ENGINE OIL:
Pro Hond a GN4 4 ·s troke oil (U.S.A. and Canada) or
equ iv ale nt motor oil
API service classification : SG or Higher
JASO T 903 standard: MA
Viscosity : SAE 10W·30
OIL CAPACITY:
0.67

0.70 lit er (0.74 US qt , 0.62 Imp qtl at oi l filter c hang e
Install the oil filler cap/dipstick.
