Error Messages
The HP-18C beeps and displays an error message when you attempt
to do an operation that is not allowed. Short error messages are dis-
played on line 1; longer messages are displayed on lines 1 and 2.
Pressing
any key erases the error message and restores the previous
contents of the display.
The HP-18C distinguishes between math errors that occur on the cal-
culator line
and other types of errors (for example, if you attempt an
unallowed procedure, or if the HP-18C is not able to do a calculation
with its built-in formulas using your data). Messages for math errors
on the calculator line start with the word ERROR: .
The error messages are listed in alphabetical order.
CURRENT LIST UNNAMED;
NAME OR CLEAR THE LIST
Attempt to GET another list without first clearing or naming the cur-
rent list.
EMPTY LIST
Attempt to do a calculation using an empty number list.
