Figure 25 shows a five frame library that is powered with FC 1751. This feature
code provides one PDU. If the customer wants redundant power, then a second
PDU (an extra FC1751) must be ordered. In this example, two FC1751 would need
to be ordered.
The customer must order FC9989 (Two 4.3-m power cords) for all the powered
frames that attach to the PDU. In this example, FC9989 would be ordered for
Frame 1, Frame 3, and Frame 4.
The customer must specify the feature codes for the proper power cord type 2
for their geographic location. The power cord feature codes that are used with
FC1751 are FC9954 through 9959, and 9966.
Power consumption and cooling requirements
The cooling requirements for each TS4500 tape library frame depends on how
many tape drives are in the frame. Generally, the greater the number of tape drives
in a frame, the more heat the frame generates. The cooling requirements increase in
direct proportion to the amount of heat that is generated.
To calculate the total cooling that is required by the library (in Btu per hr),
multiply the total power in watts by 3.41. To convert Btu per hr to kBtu per hr,
divide your result by 1000. Table 38 on page 93 shows the cooling requirements for
each of the TS4500 tape library frame models.
