Troubleshooting
The following chart is designed to help you correct problems which are not equipment malfunctions.
If you are unable to locate the cause of a problem, or solve it through the use of this chart, contact your nearest
Icom Dealer or Service Center.
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION REF.
Power does not come
on when is
pushed.
Power cable is improperly
connected.
Reconnect the power cable correctly. p. 2-1
The external power supply is turned
OFF.
Turn ON the external power supply. p. 2-1
The DC power cable fuses or
circuitry fuse is blown.
Find and repair the cause of the
problem and then replace the
damaged fuse with a new one.

The optional AD-55NS or SP-39AD
is used but the supplied short
connector is not connected.
Connect the supplied DC power
short connector to [DC 13.8 V].

No sound is heard from
the speaker.
Audio level is too low or 0%. Set the audio level to a higher level. p. 3-1
The squelch is too tight. Set the squelch level to open the
squelch.

The Tone/Code squelch or Digital
squelch (D.SQL) is ON.
Turn OFF the Tone or Digital
squelch.

A headphones is connected to [EX-
SP] or [PHONES].
Disconnect the headphones. p. 2-3
The external speaker cable is
disconnected.
Check the external speaker cable
and repair it.

Sensitivity is too low,
and only strong signals
can be heard.
The attenuator is activated. Turn OFF the attenuator in the
FUNCTION screen.

The RF gain is reduced. ("RFG" is
displayed.)
Set [RF GAIN] to 100%. ("RFG" is
disappeared.)

The antenna is defective or
the coaxial cable is shorted or
disconnected.
Repair the problem and then
reconnect to the antenna connector.

You are using an antenna not
suitable for the band you have
selected.
Connect an antenna suitable for the
operating frequency.

The selected antenna connector is
incorrect.
Select the appropriate antenna
connector.

The squelch is too tight. Set the squelch level to open the
squelch.

Received audio in the
SSB mode is unclear or
distorted.
The incorrect sideband is selected. Toggle between USB and LSB. p. 3-1
The Digital TWIN PBT function is
activated.
Touch [PBT1] or [PBT2] for 1 second
to clear the settings.

The displayed
frequency does not
properly change by
rotating
.
The Dial Lock function is activated.
(The [LOCK] indicator lights.)
Hold down
for 1 second to turn
OFF the Lock function.
