17.9 Engine characteristic - setting the auxiliary spring (All 250/300 models)
Warning

– Do not touch hot components such as exhaust system, radiator, engine, shock absorber, and the brake system. Allow these
components to cool down before starting work on them.
Preparatory work
– Tilt the motorcycle approx. 45º to the left and secure it to prevent it from falling.

Remove screws

Take cap
, adjusting spring
, auxiliary spring
, and spring insert
out of
the clutch cover.
– Pull both springs off of the spring insert.

Mount the required auxiliary spring
and adjusting spring
and slide them
into the clutch cover together.

Auxiliary spring with red marking (54837072000)
The recess in spring insert
engages in the angle lever.

Screw
must not be turned as this would worsen the engine characteris-
tic.
– Check the O-ring in the cap.
– Position the cap.
– Mount and tighten the screws.
Guideline
Screw, exhaust control cover M5 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft)
