Mount and tighten the oil filler plug.
Danger
Danger of poisoningExhaust gases are toxic and inhaling them may result
in unconsciousness and/or death.
When running the engine, always make sure there is sufficient ventila-
tion, and do not start or run the engine in an enclosed space without an
effective exhaust extraction system.
Start the engine and check that it is oil-tight.
Finishing work
Check the gear oil level. ( p. 111)
Install the engine guard. ( p. 80)
18.5 Adding gear oil
Info
Too little gear oil or poor-quality gear oil results in premature wear of the transmission.
The gear oil level must be checked when the engine is cold.
Preparatory work
Park the motorcycle on a level surface.

Remove screw
from the opening used to check the gear oil level.

Remove screw
from the opening used to check the gear oil level.

Remove filler plug

Add gear oil until it emerges from the opening used to check the gear oil level.

Mount and tighten the gear oil level check screw.
