Thischapterprovidessometroubleshootinghintsandtipstoassistyouifyouexperienceanyproblemswith
thedock.Checkthefollowingitemsrsttotrytosolvetheproblem.
General
1.Thepowerandconnectionindicatorofthedockisnoton.
Ensurethatyouhavecorrectlyconnectedthepowersupplytothedockandaworkingelectrical
outlet,andthatyouhavepressedthepowerbutton.Donotuseanypowersupplyotherthanthe
oneprovidedwiththedock.
2.YouconnectthedocktoacomputerwiththeprovidedUSB3.0cable,butthedockdoesnotwork.
a.Ensurethatthedockiswellpoweredbyitspowersupply.Thedockalwaysneedsexternalpower
supplyforoperation,becauseitdoesnottakepowerfromtheUSBconnectorattachedtoyour
notebookcomputer.
b.Ensurethatthedevicedriverofthedockiswellinstalled;ifnot,installthedevicedriverandrestart
thecomputer.
c.EnsurethattheUSBconnectoronyourcomputerworkswell;ifnot,replacewithotherUSB
connectors.
3.Youcannotstartyournotebookcomputerwhenitisconnectedwiththedock.
EnsurethatyouusetheUSB3.0cableprovidedwiththedock.
Videooutput
1.Theexternalmonitordisplay(s)areblank.
•Ensurethatthenotebookcomputerconnectedtothedockisrunningcorrectlyandisnotinstandby
orhibernationmode.Whenthenotebookcomputerisinstandbyorhibernationmode,theexternal
monitordisplay(s)arealwaysblank.
•Ensurethatthedevicedriversareinstalledfollowingtheinstallationinstructionsandtheiconforthe
dockisvisibleintheWindowsnoticationarea.
•Ensurethatthevideooutputfunctionisnotdisabled.
•Ensurethefollowingconnectionsarecorrect:
–TheconnectionbetweentheUSB3.0cableandyournotebookcomputer
–TheconnectionbetweentheUSB3.0andthedock
–Theconnectionamongthepowersupply,thedock,andtheelectricaloutlet
–Theconnectionbetweenthevideocableandthevideooutputconnectors
Note:FortheconnectionoftheVGAconnector,ensurethattheDVI-ItoVGAadapteralsois
securedbythescrewsonbothsidesofit.
•Iftheproblempersists,disconnectallconnectionsofthedock,anduninstallthedockdevicedriver.
Then,reinstallthedockandthedevicedriver.
