Cases of Problems, and Probable Causes and Solutions
The Starter Does not Crank or Cranks Slowly, Resulting in Start
Failure

Causes Remedies
Electrical
system
Faulty wire connection
Check fuse.
Check wiring connection of each relay between battery, starter
and starter switch.
Insufficiently charged battery
Check alternator. (Refer to P8-26).
Check and adjust belt. (Refer to P8-2).
Weak battery
Check specific gravity of battery electrolyte. (Refer to P8-24).
Charge the battery.
Change battery.
Faulty starter or starter relay Consult a dealer of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
Lubricating
system
Oil viscosity too high Use appropriate engine oil. (Refer to P5-1).
Excessive oil
Check amount of engine oil and lubrication system.
(Refer to P3-12).
Basic engine Sliding parts rapid wear or lock Consult a dealer of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
