5 Various observation methods
5-1 Transmitted phase contrast observation method
This section describes the procedures of observation methods other than brightfield/darkfield observations. For brightfield and
darkfield observations, see "3 Transmitted brightfield/darkfield observation methods".
For the phase contrast observation, the objective for phase contrast and the centering telescope (CT-5) are necessary.
If the analyzer for simple polarization and the polarizer are engaged in the light path, remove them from the light path.

Engage the objective for phase contrast in the light path.
Center the ring slit.

Adjust the brightness.
Place the necessary filter.
Select either Ph1, Ph2 or Ph3 (phase contrast observation).

Place the specimen on the stage.
Engage the 10X objective in the light path.
Bring the specimen into focus and adjust the brightness.
Set the main switch to (ON).
Select BF (brightfield observation).
Adjust the interpupillary
distance.
Adjust the diopter.
Bring the specimen into focus.
