Quicksilver 875SD — Electrical Systems
53
1. DC Electrical System
The DC electrical system is powered by two baeries, and are kept charged by the engine driven
alternator or by the baery charger when connected to AC power. The baery voltage is indicated by
the voltmeter screen located on the SmartCra
TM
tachometer, or on the oponal GPS with Vessel
Link.
2. Baeries
Quicksilver® recommends AGM type starng or a deep cycle baery for you boat. The baery must
meet the minimum capacity required by the engine manufacturer. Refer to your engine owner’s
manual for exact baery requirements.
To remove the baery cables:
1. Turn o all items drawing power from the baery.
2. Turn the baery switches to the OFF posion.
3. Remove the negave cable rst, then the posive cable.
To replace the cables, install the posive cable rst, then the negave cable.
3. Baery Boxes
The baeries are located in the a bilge and can be accessed through the cockpit oor storage hatch.
They can be installed or removed by loosening the strap and removing the lid on the baery box. The
baeries should always be installed and secured within the baery boxes on your boat. This will
ensure that the baery will not move around while the boat is underway.
4. Baery Selector Switches
Your vessel is equipped with baery switches to control the delivery of DC power from the baeries.
The baery switches are located on the starboard a corner of the cockpit behind an access door.
The number of engines and opons on your boat determines the number and type of baery
switches.
Never use an open ame in the baery storage area. Avoid
striking sparks in the baery area.
Always disconnect the baery before doing any work on the
electrical system. Never turn o the baery switches or
disconnect the baery cables while the engines are running.
The bilge pumps and stereo memory sll draw power from
the baeries, even if the switches are set to OFF. This is
especially important for the bilge pumps, so that they can
operate anyme excess uid accumulates in the bilge,
which can occur when the boat is docked and unaended.
Never work on the electrical system while the system is
energized. Never leave the cra unaended with the
electrical system energized.
Single Engine Boat
On a single engine installaon, there is one baery switch that controls two isolated baery banks.
When you turn the baery switch to the ON posion, power is provided from both the engine baery
and the house baery. The baery switch also has the ability to combine baery banks for emergency
starng. To turn on power to the boat, rotate the switch clockwise 90 degrees to the ON posion. To
ulize both baery banks for emergency starng, push the switch in and rotate clockwise 45 degrees.
