LATERAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
Lateral airbags
There is an airbag fitted to each front
seat, and depending on the vehicle,
the rear lateral seats. They are
triggered (door side) to protect the
occupants in the event of a severe
lateral impact.
The airbag operates
through the slits in the
seatbacks (door side):
never put any objects in
the slits.
Curtain airbags
These are airbags fitted to each
upper side of the vehicle. They are
triggered on the front and side
windows to protect passengers from
severe lateral impacts.
Marking 1 on the windscreen
reminds you of the presence of
additional means of restraint
(airbags, pretensioners, etc.) in
the passenger compartment.
Warnings concerning the
lateral and curtain airbags
• Fitting seat covers: seats
equipped with an airbag
require special covers
specifically designed for your
vehicle. Consult your RENAULT
Dealer to find out if these covers
may be purchased from
RENAULT outlets. The use of
any covers other than those
designed for your vehicle (and
including those designed for
another vehicle) may affect the
operation of the airbags and
reduce your protection.
• Do not place any accessories,
objects or even pets between the
seat back, the door and the
internal fittings. This may
prevent the airbag from
operating correctly or cause
injury if the airbag is deployed.
• Any operations on, or removal
of, the seats, upholstery and
wood trims is forbidden and
should only be carried out by
trained RENAULT Network
personnel.
